Research Activities

A Target Group Survey will be conducted to obtain an accurate picture of the refugees in Serbia and will focus on exploring vocational skills and building up demographic indicators (to provide appropriate support and solutions). It will also identify the actual needs and constraints of the target groups on which to base an effective model to respond to these.

A Labour Market Survey will analytically explore the Serbian labour markets and related economic factors. Both surveys will be compiled in a Discussion Paper, which will serve as a basis for the model-solutions.

Development of Integration Models in Roundtable Discussions

Three Roundtable Discussions will bring together representatives of refugees, local governmental and non-governmental actors and international organisations to contribute to the development of a set of solutions and a plan of action. The outcome will be locally owned and of high quality, enhanced by the fact that all parties concerned are included in the creation of solutions.

Active Support to Refugees, IDPs and EVIs

The partners will start right at the beginning of the project to establish 10 Help Desks, in Belgrade, Novi Sad, Sid, Vrsac, Subotica, Nis, Kraljevo, Kragujevac and Valjevo, which will provide legal advice, assisted access to citizen rights and health care, support for individuals to solve any issues related to state bureaucracy, and any information relevant to the individuals’ future plans. The help desks will promote the project in general and Brochures will provide the refugees with relevant information. The project will provide Training to the primary target group in cooperation with employers and the commissariat. The partners will also develop training material and workshops to widen vocational skills according to the market needs.

Dissemination of results

The partner organisations will engage in Advocacy for the identified target groups in building up useful contacts. Extensive Media Work will accompany all project activities in order to work towards overcoming prejudices about employing refugees, promoting mutual tolerance, as well as encouraging refugees to inform themselves about possibilities. A Strategy Paper will compile all findings, experiences, results and recommendations and will be disseminated to all organisations involved in the issue.
